Enjoy access to a miracle of nature right here at Turtle Sands. Mon Repos Beach is mainland Australia’s most significant marine turtle nesting site and you can witness these magnificent creatures nest and hatch just metres from your accommodation. Nightly tours are available from November to March and depart from the Turtle Centre adjacent to Turtle Sands.
Join a Parks Ranger for a guided Turtle Encounter Tour at the Mon Repos Turtle Centre. From November to late March, we run tours every night from 6:30pm until late. Here at Mon Repos, we follow turtle time. While you wait for the turtles, explore the Turtle Centre to learn about these amazing creatures and enjoy food and drinks from the Milbi Café.
Why is Mon Repos so special?
Mon Repos is home to the largest colony of nesting marine turtles on the eastern Australian mainland. It’s also home to the largest nesting population of the endangered loggerhead turtle in the South Pacific and is integral to the conservation of the species.
