Big Winch Lookout

Nearby sites & landmarks

The Big Winch Lookout Coober Pedy is a free attraction with good views over town.

Built in the 1970's to celebrate Coober Pedy being the Opal Capital of the World, this 8 metre tall structure was later destroyed by fire and then rebuilt in 1986.

There is also a tree made out of scrap iron called "The First Tree in Coober Pedy" by artist Klaus Wirris.

It's a great spot for sunset views, easy to find and you can drive right up to the top.
