In Coober Pedy, even the places of worship are underground! Whether you would like to join a service or just admire their underground beauty in quiet reverence, there are several wonderful options available to visit while you are in our unique town.
  • Serbian Orthodox Church (pictured) - you can visit this church as part of the Coober Pedy Outback Bus Tour, leaving daily during peak season from BIG4 Stuart Range Outback Resort.
  • The Catacomb Church - Dug out in the mid 1970's and dedicated by the Anglican Church. Open 24 hours a day. Services 9.30am on Sundays.
  • St Peter and Paul Catholic Church - Opened in 1967, with extensions completed in 1984, this is the first purpose built Catholic Church of its type.
  • Revival Fellowship - Part of an original opal mine featuring seashells, this place of worship was built in 1989 and open for viewing daily. Fellowship meetings are usually held twice a week.
  • Coober Pedy Christian Fellowship - With services on Fridays and Sundays, this family church is ACC affiliated.
